Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor Kitchens are a great way to enjoy the 300+ days of sun, and mild climate here in Colorado. Outdoor Kitchens can be as simple as installing a drop in grill top or as elaborate as having running water, refrigerators, smokers, and warming drawers. These special features are completely custom and a great way to encompass all of your culinary needs. A multitude of fixtures and materials can be used to accentuate the kitchen and still make it fit seamlessly into the landscape. Many times we will finish the kitchen with materials that match existing architecture of the house whether that may be brick, rock, cultured stone, or stucco. Counter tops can be many different types of material including: flagstone, marble, tile, acid stained concrete or metal. In most of our outdoor cooking areas we integrate a serving area which makes for a much more sociable cooking experience, and allows the cook to enjoy their company as well as cooking.

Outdoor Kitchens can be fairly simple with just a built in cook top, or can be elaborate like this project. In this landscape we have used a Viking stainless steel grill head, a matching warming drawer, sink, and a 6' wide service bar that seats 4. The service bar allows the chief to enjoy their company as well as preparation. Custom cut flagstone is the countertop material and stucco finished walls. A stainless steel grill top and side burners can perfectly sear a steak in minutes. An adjoining service bar helps keep the cook in good company and is just more fun. Colorado has over 300 days of sun a year, what a better way to enjoy them then by cooking outside. Outdoor kitchens are great to enjoy as well as add value to your home. This stone faced kitchen has running water and a refrigerator.
We used reclaimed brick to install this stainless steel cook top to match the existing brick in this Washington Park home. A nearby fire pit make a cozy area to enjoy appetizers and friends, anytime. Our client didn't even know he had a beautiful view of the front range until we installed this elevated patio. We installed a built in bar b que just to make the sunset a little sweeter. An arbor serves as a sun break for hot Colorado afternoons. The water feature and lighting help finish the overall ambiance. This cooking island utilizes a stainless bbq, and refrigerator. An overhead arbor adds interest to the area and allows for lights to cast onto the serving areas.
A removed secondary patio is anchored by a built in cook top and fire place. Stone was matched to the house to tie in with existing architecture. We try to keep the bbq oriented in such a way as to keep the cook close to their guests. Here the grill is positioned so they cook can see their company even while sitting at the fire. A 4 person service bar adjoins the cooking area to provide an easy way to serve guests and as additional prep space. Notice the low voltage lighting above the grill. These types of lights can be controlled with a switch or by remote control. This simple built in grill head backs to a café patio integrating the upper patio with the cooking area. The seat walls on the patio double as additional prep area. The grand stone stair set leads to a large flagstone patio.
Outdoor living with all the creature comforts. This area is almost a room in itself. Close to 400 square feet of living space was created by using cinder block walls, stucco and stone. The pillars and walls help make the space more of a room than just a patio. The water feature is the focal point of the space but can be seen from the great room as well. The wood pergola adds a sense of enclosure and the nearby grill is easy to access allowing the cook to be close to their guests. Low voltage lighting and integrated audio system make this outdoor space a great place to unwind and enjoy the best of outdoor living here in Denver! Concrete has been used here in a "pour in place" application. The walls of the outdoor kitchen were poured with special forms that used ties to create a unique architectural element. The countertop is poured with a special mix, acid stained, and then polished to a smooth finish. A Viking grill with TruSear™ infrared technology allows steaks to be seared on the outside and tender in the middle within a matter of minutes. This 41" stainless steel grill easily handles the grilling needs of this family. Grill heads come in all shapes, sizes, and finishes. Outdoor kitchens are a great way to enjoy Colorado!
