Gardens

Mother nature has created a wide variety of sizes, shapes and colors for us to enjoy. A well designed garden has a wide variety of plants to create a beautiful, lush, colorful aspect to your landscape. These gardens can be a mix of flowering and non-flowering plants as well as evergreens. Annuals as well as perennials are used to maximize year round color and enjoyment. Gardens can take many shapes. Planted pots, raised gardens, and annual beds are all part of creating a complete plant scape.

Sometimes you get a surprise visitor, further enhancing your experience and relaxation. Gardens can be many different styles. This one is styled after an English garden with many different types of roses. Annuals are hard to beat for long lasting color and beauty.
This is a great picture of an established xeric garden. There are a multitude of plants that are considered xeric that still have beautiful foliage and blossoms. Some of these plants even bloom several times during the year. Another English garden, this time as a beautiful side entrance to the backyard. A raised planter bed can bring the plant material closer to the viewer. Over 400 bulbs were planted in this project provide great spring color before the rest of the plants 'wake up'.
Even when plants are not blooming, they have great foliage color and texture. This rose garden provides a great backdrop for the bird bath. Tulips provide great spring color before the rest of the plants 'wake up'.
Container gardens add interest and area a great place for annuals and bulbs. Water gardening can be beautiful and enjoyable weather you have a pond, river, free standing water feature, or water fountain. Look at the beauty of this water lily. It opens and closes every day and night. Landscaping should be irrigated with a drip irrigation system, putting water directly to the root ball of trees and plants to conserve water and to keep the plants healthy. This project has plants with interesting colors and textures but requires little water. Sometimes a separate drip line is run to all pots and annual beds to maximize water conservation.
Installing bulbs and annuals can add bursts of color starting early spring and continuing throughout the year. Vines can be annuals or perennials, flowering or non-flowering. Many vines love hot dry weather like this Morning Glory. Look at the beautiful contrast between the deep purple of the flower and the green of the house. Container gardens in pots, planters, and raised beds are great areas for bursts of color. Here annuals are used in pots to create a visual focal point before arriving at the first of several patio areas.
This shot is of the same set of pots about one month later. How quickly annuals grow! Annuals come in a wide variety of shapes and colors to fit your own personal style. Tulips, and other bulbs come up first in the spring and give a colorful awakening to the landscape while most other plants are still dormant.
