Decorative concrete has come a long way and is used in many shapes and forms. In this concrete fire pit we worked small pieces of black glass into the top of the concrete as it was drying and ground the surface later to expose the glass. Now when lit, the fire sparkles off the glass in the top of the fire pit. This fireplace is a beautiful focal point for the deck and can be seen from the kitchen and living room. In addition, the fireplace and flagstone seat help define this space and make it much more intimate and cozy. Gas drives this architectural fire pit and seating area. Gas fire pits are aesthetic and soothing and let you enjoy your landscape more of the year by taking the chill off spring and fall nights.
This large stone fire place has a built in flagstone hearth for sitting and the arbor adds enclosure to this space. Low voltage landscape lighting adds to the warmth of this area as it splashes upon the fascia rock and stucco walls in the background. These clients loved the mountains, and wanted to bring a little of into their backyard, so we used 8 tons of boulders to create this naturalistic fire pit and two benches. What a great place to gather and tell stories of adventure and travel! A custom burner for the fire pit was created so that the flames would flicker against the large boulder backstop. This stone fireplace can burn gas or wood and makes a beautiful focal point for the main patio.
Since the beginning of time humans have gathered around the fire to eat, drink, and socialize. There is no better way to enjoy this past time than to gather around an outdoor kitchen with some of your friends and family. A wood structure above helps frame the feature as well as has accent lighting, adding night time interest and making it easier to check the grilled meal. We used reclaimed brick to install this stainless steel cook top to match the existing brick in this Washington Park home. A nearby fire pit make a cozy area to enjoy appetizers and friends, anytime. The walls of the outdoor kitchen were poured with special forms that used ties to create a unique architectural element. The countertop is poured with a special mix, acid stained, and then polished to a smooth finish. A Viking grill with TruSear™ infrared technology allows steaks to be seared on the outside and tender in the middle within a matter of minutes.
Outdoor living with all the creature comforts. This area is almost a room in itself. Close to 400 square feet of living space was created by using cinder block walls, stucco and stone. The pillars and walls help make the space more of a room than just a patio. The water feature is the focal point of the space but can be seen from the great room as well. Fire Pits can be constructed out of many types of materials. Strip stone is a type of flagstone that is cut into 8" strips and is used in this fire feature. All of our fire features come with a gas adjustment valve to increase or decrease the size of the flame. The feature allows the client to adjust the flame and heat to the type of entertaining that they are having. Fire features can be designed in many different ways. This one was made to resemble a rustic style camp fire. Often, we integrate large boulders as seats.
