Art and Sculpture

We are fascinated by design at Mile High Landscaping. In addition to creating beautiful landscapes, we design and create many artistic things. Art, furniture, lighting, and we do the occasional interior project as well. Many times we integrate the pieces into a landscape design or an interior remodel project, but there are just as many pieces that are purchased and used separately from our construction projects. All the items below are available on a regular basis and can be seen at a number of our vendors or with appointment at our studio. These items are just a handful of the items we have created. We can customize these pieces to fit your particular need, or we can come up with a new completely different concept. Please call or email to discuss pieces, project, and pricing.

Even before trees and plants have been installed, this 5'x8' hanging art plate helps create a sense of enclosure as well as a focal point in this outdoor living space. This particular piece was rusted over several days and clear coated with automotive clear coat to preserve the rusting process at its' current state. This clean modern design was created for one of our clients to accent the modern landscape that we installed for him. The client enjoys this chair so much that he uses it inside during the winter. It was constructed with hollow square tube to conserve on weight and to reduce the transfer of heat on hot summer days. Many of our clients like our art so much that they bring it inside during the winter to enjoy. This particular piece has two adjustable legs that have one side that is flat with plastic feet as to not damage the floor when displayed inside and the other side is cut at a 45 degree so that it can be freestanding in the garden. These reed screens can have leaves or knots added to them as additional interest.
Some of our pieces are designed to be installed in several pieces to create one larger piece. These 4'x1' Bubble Screens are a great example. Here three pieces are displayed to create an interesting effect. We have had clients install as many as 9 of these together to fill an entire wall. 8 pieces of iron work were used in this project to add a beautiful touch to this landscape. Grape clusters, leaves and hand twisted knots were integrated into the ironwork to give an old world feel. These two trellis pieces are different but similar. They look great in summer with the Clemantis climbing up them or in the winter by themselves. This 3'x3' Bubble Screen is beautifully displayed on this interior wall. All Bubble Screens and Reed Screens are one of kind and have their own unique character.
Three Bubble Screens installed together give the appearance of one larger piece. These pieces are powder coated black. Powder coating can be done in a number of different colors and textures. Three Reed Screens installed together give the appearance of one larger piece. These pieces are powder coated black. These Reeds artfully play with space and dimension. Art can have function as well. Here a security door and window screens were used on a garage, a much more fun, playful solution to security.
A large Reed Screen was used as a focal point and an anchor for the vines to climb up over the next few years. These playful freeform art pieces can be enjoyed individually or together. Hand twisted knots add interest and beauty. These playful freeform art pieces can be enjoyed individually or together. Hand twisted knots, and leaves add interest and beauty.
A piece of art can transform an otherwise boring wall and change it into a focal point as illustrated in this photo. The 3'x3' Bubble Screen seen here against a blue background show the versatility of the pieces. Any given finish can serve as a bold statement in any environment. Another plate art piece is ready for clear coating. The rusting process brings out a wide variation of color and marbling in the metal to create a truly one of a kind piece.
As seen in this photo the rusting can be done in many different ways to create varying effects. Here the metal was allowed to rust in a few places to create a completely different effect. Patinas can be used on a wide variety of metals to create beautiful and unique effects. Here a patina was used on the copper leaves to create this beautiful marbling. If left to nature this process would have taken over 20 years. It takes one person heating the metal and the other skillfully twisting the metal to create these works of art.
Leaves can be added to may pieces to create an organic feel. Here two ash leaves were added. A detail shot of leaves and knots utilized in this piece create infinite beauty and interest. In addition, the flowing lines of this piece add a sense of tranquility. The flowing lines in this piece frolic with the concept of space and are visually soothing.
